Sun-Safe Mama and Baby

If you guys follow my blog, you’d probably know how much Baby K and I love to be outdoors. The weather in the place we live in though 🙄 isn’t being quite merciful for some time now.

Does that mean we should stop going outside? How are we going to drain the abundance of energy the little one wakes up with? We are obviously not sitting at home but what we do is that we try our best to stay precautionary and safe in this scorching summer sun. The two things that I am extremely particular about, for both baby K and myself are –

a) To keep ourselves hydrated – water, lemon water, coconut water are few things that are a part of our daily staples. We try to sip one or the other thing every half an hour (and/or when needed) to make sure our bodies don’t lose out on the water quotient. I try to keep each one of these things completely accessible and in sight of baby K so that he never misses out on them.

b) To keep our skin safe – sun protection is a major thing for me. I hate to wear makeup on regular days, to avoid my problem skin get agitated and the only thing that’s usually on my face is the La Shield IR Sunscreen gel.

It was referred to me by a dermatologist and I totally swear by it since it’s everything my skin loves. It is protective, non sticky, light, oil free and gel based.

Price – 600 ₹ on Amazon

For the baby – I have been using the Mamaearth sun protectant ever since it was launched. It can be used from age 0-10 years. It is completely safe, mild and non sticky (I have this thing for non sticky, having an oily skin type). I have witnessed that dabbing the sunscreen on his sun exposed areas keeps his sensitive skin non irritable and protected. I absolutely trust this brand and am satisfied with it’s body lotion, body wash and toothpaste that I have been using on the baby as well. The sun protectant is hypoallergenic and chemical free and also very importantly, it is artificial fragrance free which is why I can use it on his face.

Price – 251₹ on Amazon.

MIGHTY MUMS MEET UP

June 23rd, along with various mom bloggers of in and around Delhi, the little one and I were invited to this super interesting event held by Palmers India and hosted by Funderland India.

Before I begin with the how abouts of the event, I’d like to draw your attention to how much fun my little chap had and I’m so glad we were a part of this event.

The reason for this happiness is the gala time we had at this indoor play area. Funderland not only impressed me with its facilities but also how warm the staff is. Every wish that was made by either the moms or the kids, was immediately fulfilled, thanks to the co-owner and Senior MD – Mr. Mayank Aggarwal, who made it a point to personally look after each and every one of our requirements.

What I liked most about Funderland is its hygiene (socks only policy) as soon as you enter the place and how they have divided the area for various activities so thoughtfully.

Seeing a ball pool the moment we entered the place made my little one so excited, he pulled his shoes off and dived into it immediately. A lovely carousel, tattoo artist, trampoline are few of the many activities available to keep the little ones occupied for hours. The kinetic sand pool kept him hooked for the longest time, post which the tattoo artist grabbed his attention and I felt free-er than ever. The staff is so courteous, they took care of him while I was busy with the moms meet up.

I also cant miss talking about the scrumptious snacks and meals we were offered during the course of the event, with extremely sincere staff who thoughtfully planned the meals to the T such that the moms and kids both could enjoy the same meal. The best part, they had the oreo shake for the kids and yum cold coffee for mums, that took my heart.

Not to forget the fact that Funderland has so much to do in the most reasonable prices and also some great deals for kids birthday parties and get togethers.

Apart from so much for the kiddo, there was a lot more for me too. Palmers, a brand that most moms are well aware of, especially during our pregnancies, introduced some new range of products. We have used their cocoa butter and stretch marks cream as a saviour during our pregnancy but what interested me here was the skin therapy oil. Loaded with vitamin E it heals problem skin with dark spots and lines and wrinkles, a must have for anyone above 30. Palmers was so generous with gifting all moms and kids goodie boxes with so lovely shampoos, lotions, conditioners and what not. All this is easily available on the Nykaa.com website.

If all that wasn’t enough, the gorgeous Dr Mahima Bakshi was there to chit chat with the moms discussing our pregnancies and diet and skin care related issues. She introduced her new book called Birthing Naturally, which is available on amazon.in and I’m sure is a great buy for expecting moms considering how well versed she is with the subject, being a lactation consultant too.

Hair that blooms – Aaranya hair spa review

‘Tis the season for bougainvillea to bloom and don’t we all want our hair to blossom too?!

I have never been able to confine myself to many hair/skin care products except for one or two. I love to try new brands but there are very few products that last in my grooming product list for very long.

Recently, when @glamradaofficial sent across their trial box, it contained this argan oil hair pack from @aaranyaa_. Much reluctantly I tried it on my hair.

Just applied this on shampooed and towel dried hair for 20 mins and rinsed it off. I am so impressed by how lustrous and silky it has made my hair look. My hair looks exactly how it looked after my keratin treatment. I am so glad @glamradaofficial introduced me to the world of @aaranyaa_. After two satisfactory uses, I have ordered a bigger size of this hair pack as I desperately need it to tame my damaged and frizzy hair. Upon two uses, I found the results more satisfactory when I applied it by taking small chunks of hair instead of applying straight away on all my hair and then by gently massaging it in the hair, from the scalp till the roots, so that the product enters the hair pores. I then used a hot towel to steam my hair so that the pack penetrates well and then rinsed it off in 20 minutes.

Take time to stay pretty, mums!

You guys probably figured out by now that my blogging world is not just comprised of promoting and encouraging y’all to buy stuff that gives me a payback/incentive, but things that I genuinely feel are worth buying

.

One thing that took a drastic change post having a baby was how my hands and feet started to look so dull and plaid. I was always fond of pretty manicured hands and feet, but initially after the baby I had too much on my plate to be considering this beauty aspect.

.

One of the reasons for not doing so was the simple lack of time and opportunity to rub off the nail paints and re-apply them every 2 days. Well, that’s genuinely how long any nail paint lasted on my nails before it started taking shape of a sketch of a country map. @kikomilanoindia nail polish fixer really came out as a smart purchase. Just two sprays after applying my nail paint and it stays for good 4-5 days without cracking or peeling.

I totally suggest this, especially to moms out there who lack the time to follow strict beauty regimes.
